Since 2016 is ten days from being over, I think the time has come to look back on how it went. And, well, this is not going to be a fun post - considering, you know, that it hasn't really been a fun year. I'm not going to talk about worldwide politics because we'd be here for years and I'd just get really angry, so let's just be selfish and talk about me.
Let's start with the highlits because the year has actually brought some good things to me as well as all the shit. And I've been telling myself to focus on the nice things, even if they're tiny, so let's try to do that. First and foremost my biggest accomplishment: I got the closest to achieving the fourty book goodreads challenge goal I've ever been - I've read 38 books so far. Would've been over fourty if school wasn't a thing, but who knows, I might manage to read two more books during winter break. Other things that have made me happy this year include: having seen and touched the ocean for the first time and swimming in the sea again, Cursed Child and Fantastic Beasts, tattoos, moving to Prague and seeing Petya.
Also my hair has grown quite a lot, but that's pretty much it to be honest.
And now let's talk about the shitty things: My dog Ben, who had been my friend since I was four years old, died. I got diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome which is just perfect and great when you have to go to school for fourty hours a week, do homework, study and make your graduation film. Also on the more physical health front: I had kidney stones and chickenpox this year, got diagnosed with sun allergy and I might also be going blind. Update on that in January when I go see a neurologist.
As for mental health, that has obviously gotten worse due to my physical health being shit and all the stress piling up. Over the course of about four months my antidepressant prescription got raised to thrice the amount it had been at the beginning of the year, and as if that wasn't enough, my sensory processing disorder has gotten a lot worse in the summer - to the point where I left Italy six days before I was supposed to. Also, a lot of people I really looked up to died this year - Prince, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Harper Lee, Anton Yelchin and Leonard Cohen have all passed away, as well as one of my favourite teachers at my school. Let's just add that to the list of bullshit.
More shitty things include: getting shit from classmates (again), a certain teacher fucking me over whenever he gets the chance, being fired, a few people I thought were my friends turning up to be assholes... and some personal life stuff I'd rather not discuss with the internet, thank you very much. In short, I hope your year was better than mine.
I just hope 2017 will be a better year.
